Filippo Rizzo and his wife Nancy met over a decade ago when Filippo owned and operated a small restaurant in Belgium. After years in restaurants, Filippo and Nancy made the return to Filippo's native home of Sicily intent on producing wines without additives on an estate to which the two would build from the ground up. Lamoresca is located in the southern most corner of the province of Catania, between Etna and Gela on the southern coast, at ~450 meters above sea level.

It is the only winery for roughly 30 square miles. The planted vines total five hectares and are up to 60 years old. 'Rosso' is a a selection of Nero d’Avola and Frappato from 40 year old vines in Filippo’s home vineyard. The wines are naturally fermented without temperature control and no sulfur is used at all throughout the process.
